The New York Daily News is reporting some unhappiness between Anita Thompson and Jann Wenner over the upcoming Gonzo: The Life of Hunter S. Thompson, An Oral Biography.

The funny thing with biographies is that people often say different things and it's understandable - memories get fuzzy or reconfabulated, people want to sound more important or what not. Some people completely remember things wrong too - ask four different people what happened at one event and you'll get four different stories. And there's always people with the "best" dirt and rumours too. I for one, would like to know what HST would think of all this post-mortem attention.

It would be quite interesting to sit down and compare the recollections in this new Gonzo article/book by the same people that appeared in E. Jean Carroll's Hunter, which was published about 15 years ago. If the article is any indication, it's probably in a similar format, but without the alternating ficticious chapters. Heh, I thought those were a hoot when I was 15 or 16 and still do :-)

"Unhappiness" between Wenner and Mrs. Thompson

No doubt it's about Rolling Stone cancelling his (HST's) insurance after sending him overseas during Vietnam. I have a certain amount of respect for Wenner because he believed in Thompson, but Thompson was a golden goose for him, so that makes me a little less than respectful of Wenner, too. It's simple Public Relations. Rolling Stone doesn't want to admit what we all know to be true. Gonzo Journalism is a tough format to try to find truth in at times, but I don't think that Mr. Thompson would have lied/embellished about something as potentially dire as that. For God's sakes, he had a wife and Son to think about. Shame on Rolling Stone, but if they aren't going to own up to it, that's no sweat off of my back, I know what I believe. CB of McMinnville, TN

Hey there, all anonymous questions are screened. Only I can read them until I release them, so it's only necessary to reply once.

Anyway, in answer to your question, I'm not aware of any paternity suits.

Hey there, thanks for the reminder! I had a bunch on the website. I found the files to some of them so far - there are more, for sure.

Were all allowed some BS if its good BS, and as for what would Hunter think,Im sure he would be thrilled that any attention was paid at all.
